Statement of Ethical Principles as Recommended by NASFAA

Our Mission and Professional Responsibility

The fundamental purpose of the financial aid program at UA Rich Mountain is to make it possible for students to attend college, who would normally be deprived of a college education because of inadequate funds. This purpose is based on the belief that higher education should not be a privilege reserved only for those who can afford to purchase it and that educational opportunities should not be limited by the financial resources of the student and his/her family. While financial assistance maybe limited at UA Rich Mountain, the Financial Aid Office assist students in every effort possible by helping students obtain resources or opportunities to pay for their education.

Commitment to Ethical Practice

As financial aid professionals, we affirm our responsibility to serve students with fairness, transparency, and respect. We are committed to ethical behavior that fosters trust, protects student rights, and ensures the responsible administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. Our work is guided by a dedication to student advocacy, accountability, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Advocacy for Students

Financial Aid professionals advocate for students by remaining informed about issues that affect access to higher education and by supporting policies that promote student success at the institutional, state, and federal levels. We encourage early awareness and preparation for postsecondary education and support initiatives that help students and families plan responsibly for educational expenses.
