The mission of UA Rich Mountain is to provide exemplary educational opportunities for all residents within its geographic area. One of the ways the College meets this mission is to remain an open admissions institution. Each student’s educational goal, previous academic experience, placement test scores, and interview evaluation will serve as the basis for development of his/her educational plan. The College may require students to successfully complete prerequisites, developmental courses, English as a Second Language courses, Adult Basic Skills courses and/or GED courses before enrolling in credit classes.

Step 1: Complete your online Admissions Application.

Step 2:  Submit official copies of your high school transcript or GED transcript.

If a high school graduate, contact your high school to submit a copy of your official high school transcript (which includes an official school staff signature, school seal, and graduation date) to UA Rich Mountain (address below).

If a GED graduate, contact the state which you obtained your GED scores and request an official transcript to be sent to UA Rich Mountain (address below).

Step 3: Submit official copies of college transcripts if you took courses from another college other than UA Rich Mountain.

Step 4: Provide proof of measles, mumps, rubella(MMR) immunizations. Immunization requirements may be waived for students only taking classes for personal enrichment. If foreign born, students must provide proof of current negative tuberculosis (TB skin test) test.

Step 5: Submit placement test scores (ACT, SAT, or ACCUPLACER) if scores are less than 5 years from last test date. The tests will determine if you need to take developmental math, reading or English courses. Students must have an ACT composite or SAT/Accuplacer equivalent of 16 for completed admission. Students scoring below a 14 are evaluated individually based on program of interest.

Students who graduated from high school or received a GED after May 1, 2002, will be evaluated for conditional/ unconditional admission pursuant to Act 1290 of 1997, as amended by Act 520 of 1999 by the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas. 

The Arkansas college core curriculum from high school consists of:

  • 4    Units of English with emphasis on writing skills, not to include courses in oral communication, journalism, drama, or debate.
  • 3    Units of natural science with laboratories, chosen from physical science, biology, chemistry, or physics. Only one unit may come from a life science.
  • 4    Units of math, including algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and a higher-level math course.
  • 3    Units of social studies, including one of American history, one of world history, and at least one-half unit of civics or American government.

Act 1290 also requires any private school, home school, or GED student who graduates after May 1, 2002, to have successfully completed a composite score of 19 on the ACT or the equivalent score on the SAT, or ACCUPLACER for unconditional admission.

Students who have not completed the requirements for Act 1290 and who are conditionally admitted will be required to complete any necessary developmental courses along with 12 hours from the specified degree plans with a 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale) GPA within the first 30 hours. Once this requirement has been met, the student’s status will change to "unconditional."

Step 5:  If placement scores are older than 5 years or no placement test was ever taken, visit the UA Rich Mountain Testing Center to find out how to schedule your FREE placement test. The test will determine if you need to take developmental math, reading or English courses.

We are pleased that you are interested in spending your time in the United States of America studying at UA Rich Mountain in the scenic Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas. International Students interested in enrolling should contact our admission staff for an appointment. They are familiar with the special needs of international students, information regarding orientation, counseling and advising. 

Step 1: Complete your online Admissions Application. This step should be completed as early as possible to begin the enrollment process.

Step 2: Submission of authenticated translated copies of all academic records. UA Rich Mountain requires international transcripts to be translated in English through the following approved service—International Credential Evaluations (InCred). The student is responsible for accessing this service and all fees related to transcript authentication services.

Step 3: Submission of one of the following exams and present the minimum score shown or have graduated from an United States public school. May be required of students from non English speaking countries. UA Rich Mountains code for TOEFL scores is D249.

Step 4: All students must submit placement test scores (ACT or SAT) prior to receiving an I-20. Additional testing may be completed through the UA Rich Mountain Testing Center. Email admissions@uarichmountain.edu for more information.

Step 5: Submission of the following documents

Declaration and Confirmation of Financial Resources form. This form must be completed by the individual providing the funds for you to attend UA Rich Mountain.

Financial Statement or letter from a local bank showing an amount equivalent to the current cost of attendance listed below. This statement or letter should show a balance within the last 3 months. The account holder should be listed on the above declaration form.

Supplemental Information Form - Please complete each part of this form.

MMR immunization shot record (measles, mumps and rubella). 2 MMR’s are acquired after arrival in the U.S. Immunization Form

Copy of F-1 or M-1 Visa (after received).

Complete a screening for tuberculosis (T.B.), if applicable, after arrival in the U.S.

Copy of current Passport

Additional information concerning cost of Attendance

The following information is provided concerning fees, tuition and an estimate of living expenses for full-time applicants who are non-Arkansas residents and from other countries that plan to attend UA Rich Mountain.

Students should arrive in the United States at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of classes to allow time for testing (if needed), registration and to move in to on-campus housing. Please note tuition, fees, books and supplies are paid once per semester before classes begin.

The figures below are estimated expenses for an academic year (Fall and Spring semester) Full time (12 credit hours). Mandatory if you have an F-1 visa.

  • Room & Board $9,300.00 (includes $200 housing deposit and $150 application fee)

Note: The cost of transportation between home country & United States is not included in the above estimated expenses.

Note: Summer & Holiday recess expenses to live on campus or travel are not included in this total.

Fees & tuition charges are determined by totaling the number of semester credits taken each term times the charge per each credit. Special fees for laboratory courses, or other special course fees, may be charged in addition to the fees and tuition indicated above. Students without sufficient funds will not be permitted to register for courses. Fees, tuition and estimates are subject to change.
