Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician program is designed for students who wish to acquire a thorough understanding of the human anatomy, the language used in the medical profession, regulations that govern the practice of medicine. Students will be equipped with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position as a Patient Care Technician in either a physician's office or institutional setting. The program prepares students for industry recognized certification examinations. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics as patient care technicians, nursing assistants, or medical assistants. The program emphasizes compassion, communication, and technical proficiency, ensuring that graduates are equipped to provide high-quality care to patients.
Program Outcomes
At the end of this program students will have the following proficiencies:
- Foundational Knowledge: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology necessary to perform Patient Care Technician skills.
- Technical: Demonstrate proficiency across a range of services, including evaluation and management, anesthesia, surgery, radiology, pathology, and medicine.
