Student Organizations

Phi Theta Kappa

The College founded the Beta Eta Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)in 1998. The purpose of the group, a national scholastic honor organization, is to recognize outstanding academic achievement in community and junior colleges. Additionally, PTK promotes the development of leadership and service and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students. Membership is by invitation. To be eligible, a student must have a 3.5 grade-point average in at least 12 semester credit hours from UA Rich Mountain. Members are eligible to apply for many scholarships for continued study and will have the opportunity to participate in community service projects.

Community Service projects include:  Hunt for Literacy each Spring for area pre-school children, Mena Downtown Trick or Treat, Constitution Day Treasure Hunt at UA Rich Mountain.  PTK Members also help with UARM new student orientation and lead the campus tours each semester.

Actors Guild/Theatre

The Actors Guild/UA Rich Mountain Theatre has produced more than ten productions since inception in 2010 including: Graceland, Killer’s Head, Zoo Story, Winnie The Pooh, The Bully Show, Simply Shakespeare, The Good Doctor, Love Letters, The Foreigner and The Nina Variations.  The Actors’ Guild also takes part in The American College Theatre Festival is proud to be invited to attend the ACTF regional festival in 2012 at the University of Oklahoma.  We will be presenting The Nina Variations at the fall 2016 ACTF festival to be held at UAFS.  The Actors’ Guild is also proud to present the on campus Variety Show which is in the sixth season.  Members of the Actors’ Guild have taken a trip to New York City to watch live theatre on and off Broadway.  Those interested in theatre have the ability to see shows at the Arkansas Rep Theatre and Theatre Squared to view professional theatre productions presented in the state of Arkansas.

Science Club

The mission of the UA-Rich Mountain Science Club is to promote the advancement of the sciences through education, research, discovery, and public awareness by equipping the next generation of scientists, engineers, researchers, and technology leaders with the resources and information that will foster and encourage the advancement of the sciences. The club shall provide students with dynamic opportunities outside of the classroom including multidisciplinary discussions, lectures, and events that will offer both students as well as members of the community non-traditional forms of education and public awareness, promoting academic growth and collaboration with scientists and engineers to better serve the local community and society at large.

The Science Club hosts an annual Science Fair that involves local schools and students. Also, Science Club organizes Community Cleanups around the campus area.

Student Government Association

SGA serves as the student governance vehicle and represents, leads, and unifies the student body; aids the college in its large purposes of education; make recommendations concerning student issues to the UA Rich Mountain administration; act as a means of preserving and attaining the well-being of the college community; encourages enthusiastic school support.

Student Government is ran by appointed students to represent and serve the UA Rich Mountain student body and be proactive in events and activities.

SGA plans and organizes events for student life on campus at UA Rich Mountain. Some annual events include Welcome Back Lunches, Halloween community event, concerts, lunch N learns, Finals Lunches, theme games, cookouts, and more. Student leaders have opportunities to attend conferences throughout the year to schedule entertainment for the UA Rich Mountain student body.

Student Ambassadors

Looking for a way to get involved on campus? UA Rich Mountain’s Ambassador program is a great way to experience college campus life! Our ambassadors are student spokespersons for the college. Ambassadors’ help with campus events, give tours of the campus, work in the admissions office, and attend recruitment activities off campus.

Job Requirements

  • Attend & Assist with 1 Student Orientation Session per Semester
  • Assist with 1 day of Pre-Registration & Registration per Semester
  • Assist with Junior & Senior Day activities
  • Attend 1 event per semester other than Junior & Senior Day
  • Work 1 hour per week in the Admission’s Office
  • Give 5 Campus Tours per Semester
  • Conduct 1 Volunteer/Non Profit Activity as a group each semester
  • Attend 1 Day Training in August 

Academic Requirements

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Full Time Student (12 credit hours/semester)
  • Graduate of a Service Area Schools and/or Non-Traditional Student
