The College Board’s College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) has been the most widely trusted credit-by-examination program for nearly 50 years, accepted by 2,900 colleges and universities and administered in more than 1,800 test centers. These exams allow students to test their mastery of college-level material in introductory subjects and earn college credit. Students can earn credit and get closer to achieving their educational goals by earning qualifying scores on one or more CLEP exams.
What you already know can take you farther than you think. Maybe you have professional work experience, or speak Spanish fluently. If so, consider taking a CLEP exam. They can get you college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. They’re a convenient way to lower your tuition and gain access to higher-level college courses sooner. CLEP exams are accepted by most colleges and universities.
CLEP is flexible and fits into your schedule. Each exam takes just 90 to 120 minutes to complete.
The College Board’s website provides additional information about CLEP exams, including exam descriptions and test preparation resources. The Testing Center has a 2017 CLEP Official Study Guide to loan to students once they are registered for an exam. This study guide encompasses all exams.
Visit clep.collegeboard.org to create an account, order and pay for the cost of exam ($85). Next step, make an appointment at our Test Center. There is a $30 administration fee due on the day of your test.
When you take a CLEP exam, you can select the institution that should receive your scores. An official score report will automatically be forwarded to the school. You will also receive an unofficial copy of your score for your records immediately after the examination (except for College Composition Essay results will be ready in approx. 6 weeks).
Be sure to check out the Student Catalog for our CLEP Policy and CLEP exams that are accepted for credit at UA Rich Mountain.
