ACC Honors Mendez as Academic All-Star

[October 14, 2019 | LITTLE ROCK, Ark.]  During the annual Arkansas Association Community Colleges (ACC) Conference in the ballroom of the Downtown Marriott, UA Rich Mountain student and Bucks cross-country athlete Marlenne Mendez was honored for her successes inside the classroom and out. As a recipient of this prestigious honor, Mendez will also receive a scholarship to an Arkansas school of her choice to continue her educational journey.

Marlenne is scheduled to graduate in May 2020 with an Associate of Arts Degree. Her educational goals are to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Education with the goal of coaching / teaching mathematics. Her passion for her career path is to profoundly impact the lives of the future generations through education as well as contribute to the community in a meaningful way.

Marlenne is an all-star in every sense of the word, according to Chancellor Dr. Phillip Wilson. She is a member of the Bucks’ women’s inaugural cross-country team, has been named as a Scholar Athlete by the NJCAA Coach’s association, and finished her first year with a 3.64 cumulative GPA earning her place on the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team.

Marlenne is from Fort Smith, Arkansas and is the daughter of Manuel and Mariana Mendez.
