The University of Arkansas Rich Mountain and the Polk County Developmental Center “Unlimited Possibilities” Program have teamed up to provide career opportunities for job seekers enrolled in the PCDC’s Supported Employment Program. Jasmine Cabello is working part-time at UA Rich Mountain through the program and is a positive role model and ambassador for her fellow colleagues. “Jasmine has a strong work ethic and always has a smile and positive comment to share with everyone she meets”, states Chad Fielding, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at UA Rich Mountain. Fielding also added that through the partnership, UA Rich Mountain employs a participant for 10 hours a week.
The Supported Employment program utilizes job coaches who guide and support job seekers during their career journey. The development of interpersonal skills and the ability to perform specific job duties are necessary to long-term workplace success. The job coaches ensure the client understands the job requirements, from pre-employment to the evaluation phase. PCDC Supported Employment Program will be coordinating summer internships starting summer of 2018.
