Financial Aid Counselor

The Financial Aid Counselor, under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid, is responsible for the advising of Federal Student Aid, including awarding of federal, state, local, and institutional aid to students. The Financial Aid Counselor must stay informed of current financial aid (FA) policies and regulations in order for proper awarding and disbursement of financial aid.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The formal education a bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field or the equivalency including direct experience.
  • One to three years recent professional experience in financial aid at an institution of higher education.
  • Experience in operating the financial aid module of the administrative software of a college or university.
  • Experience with financial aid administration or related area.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret state and federal rules and regulations including income tax information.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting and business practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and take initiatives.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills in combination with attention to detail and tasks.

Full Job Description

SNAP E&T Case Manager

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training Program (E & T) Case Manager, under the supervision of the Adult Education Coordinator, must have a commitment to working cooperatively with other adult education and agency personnel to fulfill the mission of the Adult Education programs and have the ability to deliver quality customer service. This is a grant-funded position and continuation of this position is contingent on continuation of grant funds.

This is a part time position anticipated to work an average of 25 hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements upon approval of the director.
  • Three years of experience in program administration or related area.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with students with disabilities.
